Jaden Ivey is expected to miss
most of the 2024-25 season after sustaining a broken left fibula in
a collision with Cole Anthony, according to ESPN’s Shams
Charania.

The Detroit Pistons guard
sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s 105-96
victory over the Orlando Magic. The injury occurred when Ivey
collided with Magic guard Cole Anthony while pursuing a loose ball,
resulting in an awkward fall that left Ivey in visible pain on the
court.

Ivey was immediately attended to
by medical personnel and subsequently stretchered off the court. He
underwent successful surgery the following day at Detroit’s Henry
Ford Hospital and will be re-evaluated in four
weeks.

The Pistons announced Thursday
that the promising guard will be reevaluated in four
weeks.

Ivey, the No. 5 overall pick in
the 2022 draft, has been enjoying a career-best season, averaging
17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game for the
resurgent Pistons.

Though Detroit remains open to
Ivey’s return depending on their postseason prospects, the team is
committed to prioritizing his recovery and long-term
health.

Pistons head coach J.B.
Bickerstaff expressed confidence in Ivey’s resilience, stating,
“There’s no better person or teammate than J.I. and no one cares
more about this than he does.”

The Pistons, currently holding a
15-18 record, will look to other players to step up in Ivey’s
absence as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in the
Eastern Conference.
