Ben Simmons, Guard/Forward, Brooklyn Nets

Ben Simmons’ struggles have been
highly publicized. Once regarded as an All-Star, his decline,
marred by back injuries and confidence issues, has been drastic.
But with a new season comes a chance for redemption. In Brooklyn,
without the weight of high expectations and with a roster that’s
more role-player-centric, Simmons could thrive by doing what he
does best: defense, playmaking, and transition offense. A
rejuvenated Simmons can be a critical asset to the Nets’ success.
It remains to be seen if Simmons can come back from the level he
used to play at Philadelphia – using his uncanny combination of
size and speed to terrorize opponents in transition – but being
healthy is the first step of Simmons to show the world again what
he is capable of.

Jordan Poole, Guard, Washington Wizards

After a breakout season in
Golden State that culminated in a championship, Poole’s form dipped
over the last two years due to locker room tensions and
inconsistency. Now with entering his second full season with the
Wizards, Poole will have more freedom to dominate the ball and
score now that Tyus Jones signed with the Suns. Poole will now be
the Wizards’ lead guard and main playmaker and he’s in a prime
position to elevate his game as Washington’s primary scoring
option. This could lead to career-best numbers and renewed
confidence for Poole as he aims to remind everyone of his career
resurgence.

Gabe Vincent, Guard, Los Angeles Lakers

After coming off basically an
off year last year with the Lakers following a lingering injury on
his leg/knee, Gabe Vincent’s journey is one of perseverance. Now in
his second season with Los Angeles after signing that free agent
contract last year, Vincent has an opportunity to shine on a larger
stage and be a role player that could help LeBron James and Anthony
Davis. Vincent is known for his shooting and tough defense and he
can provide valuable backcourt depth alongside established stars.
If he continues to grow and adapt to his new role, he could be a
pivotal piece for the Lakers in their title aspirations.
