Tyler Herro secures 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest title

Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat
secured the 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest title Saturday night at
the Chase Center in San Francisco for the 2025 NBA All-Star
Weekend.
The 6-foot-5 guard scored 24
points in the final round to beat Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius
Garland (19 points) and Golden State Warriors guard Buddy Hield (23
points). Hield had a chance to surpass Herro’s score by needing to
make all 5 shots in the corner for his money ball rack but missed
out on one shot, giving the victory to Herro.
Herro, Hield, and Garland
qualified for the final round after finishing with the top three
scores in the first round.
The full scores for the
first round were as follows (in order of the shots
taken):
Cam Johnson, Brooklyn Nets –
14 points
Darius Garland, Cleveland
Cavaliers – 24 points
Cade Cunningham, Detroit
Pistons – 16 points
Norman Powell, Los Angeles
Clippers – 14 points
Tyler Herro, Miami Heat – 19
points
Jalen Brunson, New York
Knicks – 18 points
Buddy Hield, Golden State
Warriors – 31 points (ties Stephen Curry and Tyrese Haliburton for
most points scored all-time)
Damian Lillard, Milwaukee
Bucks – 18 points
Herro expressed his delight
after his championship win. “I got lucky. I thought Buddy was gonna
make all 5 shots in the corner, but I was lucky he missed. I’m just
happy to be here.”
Herro joins the list of great
Miami Heat shooters to have won a three-point shootout crown,
joining Glen Rice (1995), Jason Kapono (2007), Daequan Cook (2009),
and James Jones (2011).
