Thunder extend Alex Caruso to new 4-year deal
The Oklahoma City Thunder have
agreed to sign guard Alex Caruso to a 4-year extension deal,
according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Caruso, a two-time NBA
All-Defensive Team selection, has signed a four-year, $81 million
contract extension.
The 30-year-old is widely
regarded as one of the NBA’s top perimeter defenders, ranking in
the top five for deflections, field-goal percentage allowed as a
contesting defender, and points per direct pick allowed as a
ball-handler defender.
This deal locks Caruso in
through the 2028-29 season—keeping him off the free-agent market
for the next 4 years.
Caruso and the Thunder go a long
way back, with Caruso formerly playing in OKC Blue, the Thunder’s
G-League affiliate.
Now with Caruso in OKC after
receiving him in a trade for Josh Giddey in the offseason, he is
now ready to help the young and hungry team win a
championship.
